During
my trip to Maui this summer,
I saw a Maui dirt shirt and a lava shirt and I thought ...
if ANYONE has claim to DIRT it surely is WEST TEXAS!
So
... we are happy to announce the
Official West Texas Dirt Shirt!

Special
West Texas Dirt
The Texas High Plains has special dirt that ranges
in colors from yellow to bright or dark red which is hard to find.
These
soils are commonly associated with soils formed in the Permian Redbeds
and
associated
with the various forks or tributaries of the Brazos, Canadian, Pecos,
or Red Rivers.

An
Art Form
Anyone
who takes the time to squeeze cotton shirts into a carefully designed
mud mixture, rinses, cleans,
treats, and repeats this process is learning about the care taken to create
a dirt shirt.
This is an art form and we don't recommend you try this at home!
Who
would be crazy enough to do this?
FauxReal Art Studio has taken on this challenge as a fiber arts
project.
Lecretia Aitken, currently a RHIM student at Texas Tech, is the coordinator
of the project.
The project is funded by FauxReal and sales of the shirt.

We
take our "God Given" assets for granted!
When you live here, you take the dirt for granted. And then a
big dirt storm blows by
(actually very few days of the year) ... and we all remember what we've
always known:
We are living on SACRED GROUND!
There is something very special about West Texas and you just have to
live here to get it.
Poking
a little fun
These shirts and accessories offer a humorous look at our West
Texas life
with clever sayings like “Life is short, play dirty”, "I
survived a West Texas Dirt Storm",
a child's shirt that says "a little dirt don't hurt" and a canvas
tote that dawns the title “original dirt bag.”
